The Herd

The horses at Heartland Therapeutic Riding are very special. They are chosen for their temperament, movement and size. We only accept well broke horses and when they arrive, they spend several weeks in training including desensitization activities before entering the programs. Our horses provide our riders with freedom, confidence and an unequaled emotional bond.

Being a therapeutic riding horse is not an easy job. Our horses provide over 2,500 rides a year. They receive lots of big hugs from grateful riders and volunteers but it takes more than love to keep horses healthy and happy. It takes food, veterinary care, shoes and hoof care, chiropractic visits, shelter upkeep and more. And those things require money.

Consider sponsoring a horse to help with the cost of their care.
